An excellent, heirloom peach that has white flesh and is free stone. Fruits are highly fragrant, large sweet and juicy. 1870. Lewis A. Rumph bred Belle of Georgia as a response to Georgia’s cotton crops being decimated by the boll weevil. Since cotton was nearly eradicated, the market was left wide-open for other farm products and crops. He hoped this peach would help to fill that gap, and it did.
